Chase Kauhane’s story is one of resilience, family, and purposeful creativity. Raised on Hawai‘i’s Big Island in a musical household of nine siblings, he grew up surrounded by kani kapila—family jam sessions and songwriting. But at age 14, when his father left, Chase and his brothers faced a defining trial: living in tents while learning construction skills to build their mother’s home on the slopes of Mauna Kea. That season forged endurance, brotherhood, and a deep dependence on God.

Out of that hardship came music with meaning. Chase and his brother Carl eventually formed Olelo, a band that draws listeners in with its Hawaiian roots while carrying a message of culture, legacy, and hope. Their songs have found homes in films and shows on Netflix, but Chase emphasizes that music only has power when it carries purpose.

In this conversation with host Teko Bailey, Chase shares how timing, patience, and faith—like farming or fishing on the islands—have guided him as a musician, husband, and father. From serving people first in the music industry, to giving back by rebuilding homes in Lahaina after the Maui fires, his story reveals that legacy isn’t about spotlight moments but about building people, ohana, and community.

For men balancing faith, family, and calling, Chase’s journey offers clarity: put ohana first, keep business at arm’s length, create space for God to move, and trust His timing.
